How Do I Illustrate My Books?
My process:
It started with an Etsy shop! I learned graphic design for my print-on-demand Etsy shop that was dedicated to one-stop-shop kid room design. I had so much fun building amazing themes, choosing colors, and finding talented artists who license their art for commercial use by professional entrepreneurs.
Though keeping the business side going (financial investment, marketing, customer service, product listings, etc.) proved too much for a 1-person job, I gained invaluable experience and found something I love that goes hand-in-hand with my writing.
I NEVER use AI. All of the art that I gather is created by humans and made by humans who love helping others create. My favorite program is Canva. Using this program, I build each scene piece by piece by creating or finding the perfect backdrop, importing characters, adding details, swapping out details, changing colors, moving pieces, eliminating pieces, and employing every tool in my toolbox to create something new and fun.
This book series is created as a visual for young children, to delight and inspire minds!
PS: My greatest contributors are my 2 kiddos! :)
